The Independent (2000) 7/10

Independent movie maker Morty Fineman (Stiller) is stone broke and desperately needs money to fund his latest movie about a singing serial killer. With the help of his estranged daughter Pamona (Garofalo) and his assistant Ivan (Perlich), they attempt to get one of Morty's movies shown at the High Desert Film Festival.

There are some nice moments in this homage to the B-movie, and the cast generally bounce well off each other, but its homemade appearance, though fitting, may not be to everyone's liking. It's good to see Jerry Stiller in a lead role, and fans of his work on Seinfeld will really get a kick from this.
